Marquee Moon · Television 1977
Rest In Peace Tom Verlaine, an unappreciated icon who’s work on this album along with Richard Lloyd’s, influenced countless bands to follow.
A teacher in my school comes up to me today. 'Sorry for your loss' he says. I had no idea idea who he was talking about. He explained that he heard the news about Tom yesterday and he always saw me walking around school with my television t shirt so he knew I was a fan. Couldn't believe the news. Rip tom
I'm 57 and this was my first listen to Television. It took me until 53 to start listening to Lou and the Velvet Underground. So I'm a late Boomer. Better late then never.
I can't believe he is gone. I have had the good fortune to see Television many times, at their best, at CBGB, They were so talented and their music was transcendent.
To the author of one of the greatest guitar solos in history. RIP Tom Verlaine
Verlaine's solo is exhilarating every time I hear it. The tension near the end, while he keeps moving up the neck bit by bit, is practically unbearable. Just hypnotic. RIP, Tom.
This song is so good that I didn't even notice it lasts almost 11 minutes
The drumming is bad ass tight. This song was done in one take. Drummer Billy Ficca thought it was a rehearsal take
This was a great freaking band. Another piece of my past moves onto the other side. RIP Tom Verlaine ; the man could write a song.
Everything in this song is musical perfection. Even the missed notes and tempo mishaps are exactly as they should be.
