Atmosphere by Joy DivisionThis isn't a song, this is a feeling, a memory, a way of life, this is art.
I went to the O2 Arena last night to watch New Order. The lights went off and for 10 minutes people were walking out and leaving to catch the train. Suddenly, the lights begin to rotate and focus on the stage… they all come back. Those of us who stayed got the privilege of watching Joy Division perform three of their songs, with this powerhouse of a beauty at the start… it’s a moment I’ll always keep dear in my heart. Don't leave until the lights come back on. I might be in the minority here, but I love that even though they've been New Order for 42 years and their sound has changed so dramatically from what it was when they were Joy Division, every so often they still play their songs and acknowledge Joy Division is how and why they exist in the 1st place.
