Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?

Mother (with Sinéad O’Connor) - Roger Waters - The Wall (1990)

Look at her fingers trembling when she sings "they'll try to break my balls"... God... Sinead is feeling every second of her performance...!

It's incredibly rare to achieve perfection in music, especially when recorded live, but when it does happen, you get this.

Rip sweet lady. Another beautiful voice falls silent. ❤

I love her smile after she delivers that first line...the way her hand trembles near the end of those more intense lines...the seriousness of her look while she waits to deliver the next. Absolutely the most magical version of this song, EVER! Soar with the angels, Sinead!

My mum was harsh on me . I wish she could listen to this .

RIP Sinead and Dolores--two Irish queens we lost too soon. My heart breaks.

First time hearing this version. I’ve goosebumps all over me, particularly, in my soul. I’m so happy I could made it before completed my journey!!! Sometimes I wonder if Sinead was bless for everybody, except for herself. I still love her. RIP

I've never seen this before, and it's so bittersweet to see those times once again, so very touching.
I'm reading these comments and i just love how this music brings so many together, especially the ones that have been neglected and hurt. Can't say much of that happens with today's music.

To see them at their prime, alive, giving us such gifts of their presence in music.

I’ve listened to this more times than I can remember and it’s amazing to my ears. Sinead definitely was a unique talent. This song in particular is so good to listen to.👍👍🇨🇦

Man the world 🌎🌍 today,,, my Mother passed away when I was 17 greatest loss of my life,, I'm 63 now and I don't know how I made it through this world with out my mom guiding me !!! Wish you were here.

Sinead’s voice is the most expressive instrument I’ve heard.  And the Band the soul of music; can’t help thinking she and the great Garth had a moment as he put the finishing touches on the piece.

This was incredible! I've never seen this. The talent on that stage......amazing. One of my favorite Floyd songs.... they did a wonderful job with it.

La plus belle voix au monde
la plus belle âme
Sinéad je t'aime ❤❤
...they have not yet invented a language on Earth with enough words to describe the EMOTION of this song...this band..

Love this song, love you Sinead O Connor, R.I.P dear sweet, brave lady, you will always be missed. Not just musicians but 2 of the most courageous people of our times. Beautiful seeing them together.
My mother passed away. She had her ways that was really rough a lot of the time. I left home when I was 16.

This version is just incredibly tight. The drums/music is mixed so well just insanely solid, the high hat and everything is just razor sharp in its tightness. Every musician is equally amazing. Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, Levon Helm, what a privilege to have that magnificent band on this song. Garth Hudson on Accordion. Levon Helm and Rick Danko on background vocals. Members of THE BAND for you kids. Garth on accordion, Danko and Helm nailing the harmonies. But Sinead was just flawless. Stunning.

My Mom passed 20 years ago. She was a good woman and great Mom. I miss her. This song reminds me of the good that she was.

For me, this is the version that gives me the most chills.  It's a symbolic concert, 8 months after the fall of the wall, in a symbolic place in Berlin Potsdamer Platz, first destroyed during the Second World War then separated in two by the wall during the Cold War.  This is the concert I would have wanted to do if I had to do just one (And David Gilmour's 2016 Live in Pompei).  So many great artists, great musicians and Sinead O'Connor who gives me goosebumps when she pushes a little... Thank you Sinead, gone too soon, may you now rest in peace.

Wow  Never knew she had done a version of this    Loved it
Love her voice  especially when she full of passion
Sad she got a bit lost    RIP Sinead     Nothing Compared To You .....

Great version of a great song. From Garth's haunting accordion to Sinead's angelic vocals.
Oh man. Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Sinead, three wonderful singers, all gone now

Thank you I was wondering who the men were singing with Roger and Sinade are they American country music singers?

They were members of The Band. Helm was American but Rick and the rest of the band were Canadian. The bearded man on accordian is Garth Hudson. He was the keyboardist (and every other instrument you can think of) in The Band

Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother do you think they'll like this song?
Mother do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Mother should I build the wall?
Mother should I run for president?
Mother should I trust the government?
Mother will they put me in the firing line?
Mother am I really dying?

Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry.
Mother's gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Mother's gonna put all her fears into you.
Mother's gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Mama will keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooooh baby ooooh baby oooooh baby,
Of course mama'll help to build the wall.

Mother do you think she's good enough -- to me?
Mother do you think she's dangerous -- to me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Mother will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby dont you cry.
Mama's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.
Mama wont let anyone dirty get through.
Mama's gonna wait up until you get in.
Mama will always find out where you've been.
Mama's gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Ooooh baby oooh baby oooh baby,
You'll always be baby to me.

Mother, did it need to be so high?
